‘Significant loss of public confidence’
A statement from agriculture minister Nick Brown in response to Lord Phillips’ report on BSE admits that ‘there has been a
significant loss of public confidence in arrangements for handling food safety and standards… [and that] the whole approach
and behaviour of departments and individuals’ needs to change to ensure lessons are learned.
