‘Pride goeth before a fall’

An old adage, but perilous to ignore. Pride – hubris – is not satisfaction in a job well done, it is setting one’s own ambitions above the aspirations of others. But such arrogance carries the seeds of its own downfall. Past carelessness of employees’ welfare is decimating major asbestos producers into bankruptcy; economy of truth has come back to haunt Big Tobacco – and threaten associated industries who were ‘just obeying orders’.
