Barristers’ pay falls

Contrary to popular conceptions, barristers’ pay is not on a permanent upward curve. A report from BDO Stoy Harward shows a 15% drop in 1999, with the median for a practitioner of 10 years’ call £71,800 (£84,000 last year). This is, however, largely the result of increased overheads rather than lower charging.
