As judge James Giles’s mediation of 15 specimen suits progresses, Graham Nichols, chief executive of Westminster Aviation Insurance Group and chairman of the London-based Aviation Insurance Offices’ Association, commented: ‘It is unlikely that the National Transportation Safety Board will ever determine what caused the fire on board, allowing claimants to point to a single defendant.’
