Baby heart operation error

A man has been awarded £5mn in damages after he suffered brain damage and lost his right leg as the result of a heart operation in 1978. The man, now 25, was just seven months old at the time of the operation. He is totally dependent on the care of his parents. The NHS Trust admitted liability. The damage was caused by excessive sedation.
