Expect suits from Columbia loss

Space shuttle Columbia was flying without third party liability cover, this requirement having been ended as recently as 2000. Commercial launch vehicles, however, must still carry cover of up to US$500mn. Damage caused by debris falling to the ground will, presumably, be covered from government funds, NASA having announced claims-filing procedures.
