Nine years too long for setting of standards
The 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the two groups
that brought action against it (a public health group and a trade union) to enter negotiation of not more than 60 days. This
to set rules, which have been awaited for nine years, on exposure to the carcinogen hexavalent chromium, used in metal alloy
manufacture. Failure to agree will lead to standards being set by the court itself.
