HVBG expectations
HVBG, the German commercial employers’ health and accident association, expects some 20,000 asbestos-related deaths in Germany
over the next 20 years costing ‘well above €10bn’. In 2001 it registered 931 such deaths and pension payments are being made
to 5,617 people suffering asbestos-caused occupational disease of whom 3,850 suffer asbestosis.
