Sacked soccer manager settles

A sacked football manager has received a £37,500 out-of-court settlement. Gudjon Thordarson, Stoke City’s ex-manager, had taken the club to an employment tribunal and was claiming £100,000 in compensation for unfair dismissal. He was sacked just a week after the club had gained promotion to the First Division. At the time, Stoke City’s chairman said that the manager’s contract was not renewed because of the poor relationship between the manager and the board.
