Reusable surgical instruments are back in use
for tonsil operations. This is a balance-of-risks decision following reports from surgeons of adverse incidents – mostly increased
bleeding but including one death – associated with the single-use instruments. The need for rigour in all sterilising and
decontaminated procedures was reemphasised.
