Chagos islanders sue

Following their success in the English high court in November, winning the right to return to the islands from which they were evicted 30 years ago to make way for a US airbase, the Chagos islanders are seeking compensation from the Pentagon. US human rights lawyer Michael Tigar seeks US$1mn for each member of the more than 2,000 forcibly displaced more than 1,000 miles to Mauritius.
