University licensing patent pool ‘not anti-competitive’

Patent pool for emerging tech including big data and IoT found to have incorporated suitable safeguards that are ‘unlikely to harm competition’, DoJ finds

A proposed University Technology Licensing Program (UTLP) in the US aimed at allowing universities to offer licences to patents covering emerging technologies is “unlikely to harm competition”, the Department of Justice’s (DoJ) antitrust division has found following an investigation.
