Legal aid provisions end

From 3 April, legal aid funding was no longer available for virtually all personal injury claims or business disputes; it is estimated this will affect around 80,000 cases a year. Hand in hand with this measure come changes in the operation of conditional fee arrangements (CFAs), so that successful litigants may recoup ‘success fees’ and insurance premiums, as well as damages.
