Failure to prosecute unlawful
A first such judicial review has found that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) acted unlawfully in refusing to bring
manslaughter charges against a company and its director on grounds of there being no reasonable chance of conviction. This
is in relation to student Simon Jones, who was killed by a crane within two hours of starting casual dockside work for Dutch-owned
Euromin.
