Japanese GM response
Consumer groups in Japan have forced a change in one of the world’s largest importers of genetically-modified (GM) foods,
with government introduction of a compulsory labelling scheme from April 2001. An early response to this is the planned launch
of a GM-free futures contract for soya beans on the Tokyo Grain Exchange in May.
