NEWRE NAMES BRAUNE AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Munich Re subsidiary NewRe has appointed Thomas Braune as chief executive. He succeeds Renate Strasser, who is leaving Munich Re after 16 years. Braune was most recently in charge of Munich Re’s life and health reinsurance business in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. He joined Munich Re in 1992. Claudia Hasse, the chair of Munich Re’s supervisory board, said Braune was a "strong strategic thinker and communicator who is customer-focused and will vastly drive and strengthen NewRe’s financial performance". In June NewRe announced the appointment of Dirk Herrenpoth as chief underwriting officer for its property/casualty business following the departure of Artur Klinger.
