Barcelona FC icon Lionel Messi can register a figurative mark in the EU for the term ‘Messi’, after the Court of Justice for the European Union (CJEU) affirmed a General Court decision that the footballing legend’s reputation counteracts any visual or phonetic similarities with Spanish cycling brand, Massi.
