UN civil aviation agency calls for safety improvements

The United Nations civil aviation agency has called on its 188 contracting States to “eliminate remaining deficiencies in the global air transport system” after one of the worst months in aviation history. The agency said that some of these deficiencies may have contributed to five major accidents in August, of which four claimed more than 330 lives.
