£300mn in NHS negligence claims
Reports in the press reveal that NHS compensation payments for clinical negligence claims totalled nearly £300mn in 2003–2004.
This compares with just over £1mn for 1996–1997, £696mn for 2001–2002 and £335mn for 2002–2003.
