Long-term sickness absence survey from Mercer
A major employee healthcare survey has revealed that 39% of long-term sickness absence is now due to musculoskeletal problems,
while 30% is due to stress. The survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting involving over 600 companies found that musculoskeletal
problems, including back pain and repetitive strain injury (RSI), and stress were also responsible for 23% and 14% of short-term
absences respectively.
