Police sued for failing to protect

Hertfordshire Police are to be sued by the parents of a man who was murdered by a former employee. The parents claim that the police failed to protect their son, an optician, who was shot dead outside his practice. The murderer had threatened the optician because he was due to testify against him in a theft trial.The parents claim that the murderer had threatened and intimidated the optician, but the police failed to protect him, and had failed to arrest or contact the murderer.
