Supreme Court rejects MIB appeal of private land road accident case

The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau’s (MIB) of a landmark ruling to support road accident victims injured on private land. MIB will now have to pay damages for a catastrophic collision that caused severe spinal cord injuries to a man who is now a tetraplegic. The man was injured when he was chased on foot across private land, by its owner who was driving a 4x4. The resulting collision left him dependent on round-the-clock care.
