MMC AND GUY CARPENTER PLAN LAUNCH OF PRIVATE ILS PLATFORM

Marsh & McLennan Cos and its Guy Carpenter reinsurance broking unit are launching Isosceles Re as an insurance-linked securities platform to streamline issuance of privately placed 4(2) securities, Artemis.bm has reported. The new platform is reportedly named after the Isosceles Insurance transformer and rent-a-cell captive structure that was part of JLT Insurance Management, which MMC acquired when it bought Jardine Lloyd Thompson. It remains unclear whether Isosceles Re will adopt the same cell captive and rent-a-captive structure as Isosceles Insurance, or register a new vehicle specialising in 4(2) issuance. Isosceles Insurance has offerings in Bermuda, Guernsey, Barbados and Vermont.
