RöHLER SUCCEEDS ALLIANZ OUTGOING BOARD MEMBER AXEL THEIS

German insurance group Allianz has announced that Axel Theis will retire on March 31, 2020, after more than 33 years at the company. During his time at Allianz, Theis held a number of management positions in the group’s industrial lines business, including chief executive officer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty between 2006 and 2014. Currently the member of the board of Allianz responsible for insurance in German-speaking countries and Central and Eastern Europe, Theis retires at his own request. He is succeeded by Klaus-Peter Röhler, currently chairman of the board of management of Allianz Deutschland AG and Allianz Versicherungs-AG, effective April 1, 2020. Röhler will retain his role at Allianz Deutschland AG but is succeeded by Frank Sommerfeld as chairman of the board of management at Allianz Versicherungs.
