Tobacco Update

Researchers call for more action on reducing smoking levels

Bolder action is needed in the UK to reduce levels of smoking further according to researchers in Tobacco Control. They said setting an ambitious UK target of a smoking prevalence of less than 5 per cent by 2035 would avoid nearly 12,500 new cases of serious disease and save more than £600 million in healthcare and lost productivity costs in that year alone.
