Perils of the sea

566935 BC Ltd (trading as West Coast Resorts) v Allianz Insurance Co of Canada [2006] BCCA 469, a decision of the British Columbia Court of Appeal in October 2006, confirms that, at least in Anglo-Canadian law, a peril of the sea is a fortuitous event which gives rise to an ingress of water, and is not the ingress of water itself.
