Lien over proceeds of the policy

In marine insurance it is settled law that the placing broker is required to pay the premium. Is it also the case that the broker can, having received the proceeds of a claim, deduct from those proceeds the amount owed to him in respect of the unpaid premium? Heath Lambert Ltd v Sociedad de Corretaje de Seguros (No 2) [2006] EWHC 1345 (Comm) answers this question in the affirmative.
