Reinsurance - Reinsurance of construction risks
(Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation and Others v. Cornhill Insurance and Others, forthcoming in [2000] Lloyd’s Rep IR)
The lengthy judgment of Mr Justice Langley in
Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation and Others
v.
Cornhill Insurance and Others,
forthcoming in the March 2000 issue of Lloyd’s Rep IR, is concerned with the scope of a reinsurance policy reinsuring the
liabilities of direct insurers in relation to a major construction project. To all intents and purposes, however, the insurers
had simply fronted the risk, so that the case is in reality concerned with the proper construction of London market construction
insurance wording.
