PERILS RELEASES UPDATED EUROPE EXPOSURE DATABASE
Zurich-based catastrophe insurance data assessor Perils has released the 2013 update of its Europe Industry Exposure Database.
The total sum insured over all 11 markets was up 1.9% year-on-year on January 1 (+1.1% at constant exchange rates), compared
with a 3.4% rise the previous year. Sums insured country-by-country, in original currencies, ranged from minus 4.9% to plus
2.9%. The latest data also includes updated property sums insured that are exposed to UK flood, including data for windstorm
and future UK flood events where the overall industry loss is greater than €200m ($257m). Perils Head of Products Eduard Held
said that "with the release of the 2013 Europe Industry Exposure Database we have seen a further improvement in the quality
of the cat exposure data provided by Perils. A key factor in this has been our ability to continue to broaden the market's
support."
