Scrapping starts to address tonnage imbalance but finance remains tight, warns Richard Greiner, of Moore Stephens

Overall confidence levels in the shipping industry showed signs of improvement towards the end of 2012. This owes much to an increase in ship scrapping to record levels during the course of the year and an expectation that the rate of demolition will be maintained or improved on during 2013.
