£1 million out of court settlement for leg amputation
A Latvian woman who had to have her leg amputated after a road traffic collision whilst working in the UK, has received £1
million in an out of court settlement. The incident occurred as the woman was being driven to her digs in a minibus, together
with her two sons. The driver lost control and the minibus left the road, colliding with some trees in a ravine. Her injuries
led to subsequent psychological and psychiatric injuries, depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Her eldest son suffered
severe skull fractures and lost his sight in his right eye in the same incident received £360,000 in compensation. Her youngest
son escaped any physical injury, but was compensated £20,000 for the psychological trauma of the accident.
