£180,000 in compensation for RTA victim

A woman who suffered multiple injuries after she was knocked down by a car when it mounted the kerb while she was walking to church has received £180,000 in compensation. She was rushed to intensive care suffering multiple injuries including a broken neck, fractures to her spine, ribs, pelvis and right ankle. She also suffered damage to her liver, kidney and spleen. She needed a tracheotomy which led to a narrowing of the windpipe which required reconstruction surgery more than a year after the accident. The operation meant she was fed through a tube for a year. The driver’s insurers settled a claim for compensation out of court. The driver was also convicted for dangerous driving.
