£9,000 in compensation for sex discrimination

A driving test examiner has received £9,000 in compensation after winning her claim of sex discrimination against the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA). Despite holding a large goods vehicle (LGV) licence since 1993, she was not permitted to take a DVA training course. With the support of the Equality Commission, she claimed it was on grounds of her sex that she was not permitted to take the programme and become an LGV test examiner. She had worked for the DVA since 2000.
