Study underestimates cost of occupational illness and injury in US

The US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has said in an online blog that a recent study underestimated the cost of occupational illness and injury in the US. The recent study, entitled “Economic Burden of Occupational Injury and Illness in the United States”, showed that the annual direct and indirect costs are at least $250 billion, exceeding the individual cost of cancer, coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
