Legal merger of banks under Polish law
Krzysztof Wiater, Managing Partner, Michał Pawłowski, Associate, Wojciech Kalinowski, Junior Associate, DLA Piper in Poland.
General overview
Legal mergers are considered an alternative way of creating synergies for companies and of strengthening market position,
or extending the range of operations, without the involvement of significant funds. Within the last decade Poland has seen
a few such mergers in the banking sector. Although this type of transaction in Poland is rather complicated and time-consuming,
it can be of great benefit to the merging companies.
