£3,500 in compensation for sexual assault

A woman has received £3,500 in compensation after she was sexually assaulted at a hospital when she was helping a patient in the shower. The assault left her suffering psychological distress. The patient had a history of assaulting members of staff but the woman was not warned and was left alone with the man. While her back was turned he grabbed her indecently, causing her pain and discomfort. She was forced to take several weeks off work and suffered from nightmares, but after counselling has returned to her job as a health care assistant. The hospital admitted liability and the case was settled out of court.
