Northern Ireland pleural plaques act

The Damages (Asbestos-related Conditions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 has come into operation from 14 December 2011. The purpose of the 2011 Act is to reverse the decision of the House of Lords in Johnston v NEI International Combustion Ltd and conjoined cases 2007. In that case, the Court had ruled out the possibility of a claim in negligence for asymptomatic asbestos-related pleural plaques.
