Crew safety should come first

Neil Smith, of Lloyd’s Market Association, looks at liquefaction of cargos

The safe completion of a voyage obviously requires that the carrying vessel is fit for purpose, properly maintained and certified, including all of the required class certificates. However, with certain types of cargo it is the cargo itself which can have a fundamental impact on the safety of the vessel during the sea voyage.
