Patients win damages over hip surgery complications
Five hospital patients have settled claims totalling more than £750,000 after they suffered serious complications following
hip surgery. The operations were carried out by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon between 2005-2007. One patient underwent
hip revision surgery. During the surgery it is alleged the surgeon fractured his pelvis which damaged a major nerve. The fracture
was identified during the surgery but it was not repaired.
