Chief Scientific Advisor rejects change to classification of asbestos

Sir John Beddington, Chief Scientific Advisor to HM Government and Head of the Government Office for Science, has responded to a letter from The Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP which asked him to consider “whether there is any evidence that would justify an imminent change to the ‘international scientific consensus on the classification of asbestos’ and so allow Ministers to re-consider UK legislation”.
