£100,000 settlement for road death
The sister of a woman who was killed in a road collision has received more than £100,000 in an out-of-court settlement. The
victim was fatally injured when the car she was travelling in as a rear-seat passenger was hit by another vehicle. The victim
and her sister had lived together for their whole lives. Her lawyer said there were significant arguments about the nature
of the case, the health of the two sisters and the overall legal basis of the claim. Because the lower earner of the two sisters
had died, the traditional calculation for dependency was not appropriate, so the lawyer tried to use a schedule of joint expenditure.
