£75,000 in damages for botched operation
An elderly woman who underwent a botched knee replacement operation has been awarded £75,000 in damages in an out-of-court
settlement. The operation was performed by a private surgeon. After the procedure, her leg remained swollen and painful, despite
physiotherapy. She got a second opinion from another surgeon, who confirmed the prosthetic knee had been incorrectly positioned.
The woman underwent a revision operation, which required a long recovery period.
