The family of a man who died after suffering a seizure has received £500,000 in compensation. He was taking Citalopram, an
anti-depressant. He wanted to give up smoking and visited his GP, who prescribed Zyban. He consequently developed a rash and
returned to his GP, where he was seen by a locum GP who advised him his symptoms were due to an upper respiratory tract infection
and prescribed him anti-histamine. The following day he died after suffering a seizure.
