£9mn settlement for brain injury during birth

A girl who sustained a brain injury during her birth has received a settlement of £9mn. She will require professional medical care for the rest of her life after she was born 20 minutes after her twin. As a result of her delayed birth, she now has severe cerebral palsy. The settlement comprises a lump sum of £3.29mn, followed by annual, index-linked and tax-free payments to help meet the cost of her lifelong care.
