£100,000 in compensation for roof fall injuries

A man who was left deaf in one ear after falling from a roof while at work has received £100,000 in compensation.The marine safety engineer had been required to climb up a ladder and on to the roof of an area used for storage. There were no protective barriers on the roof and he fell from a height of several feet to the floor below. He suffered various injuries to his back, neck and shoulder, as well as losing the hearing in one ear. He also suffered damage to the xiphisternum, a part of the chest, and is now unable to undertake any heavy manual labour. The compensation was paid in an out-of-court settlement.
