Green Day face copyright suit

UNITED STATES – US rock-band Green Day is facing a copyright infringement suit over artwork used in concerts, videos and on the internet. Artist and illustrator Dereck Seltzer filed the suit against Green Day for using his original artwork titled Scream Icon, without permission. The artwork, which Seltzer created in 2003, features a close-up abstract image of a face. According to the suit, Green Day used this image on the stage backdrop for a recent Los Angeles concert, which is part of the band’s wider world tour. Seltzer says the artwork has also been used on various promotional materials without his permission.
