HP sues over printer cartridge patents

UNITED STATES – Hewlett-Packard has filed a patent suit accusing four companies based in Hong Kong and Taiwan, of infringing patents related to print cartridges. HP has also accused the companies, which include Microjet Technology of Taiwan and PTC Holdings of Hong Kong, of stealing components from HP’s manufacturing plants in Singapore and Malaysia and reusing them in their own products. Microjet, whose products are available on Amazon.com in the US, says that its lawyers are investigating the allegations. As well as the lawsuit, HP has also filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission seeking a ban on imports of the infringing products. HP is seeking unspecified damages from the companies.
