Mexico moves with the times

Rodrigo Calderon-Ponce of Uhthoff, Gomez Vega & Uhthoff on patenting computer-derived molecules in Mexico

In an effort to keep up with advances in technology, in the past few years, patent examiners at the Mexican Patent Office have developed practical and law-based guidelines for determining what is and what is not considered patent-eligible subject matter in the field of computer derived molecules and screening methods thereof. These guidelines obviously carry implications for the biotechnology industry when seeking protection for new creations derived from this field of technology.
