Mesothelioma cases to peak by 2016

A report funded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has revealed that the expected number of mesothelioma cases amongst males in the UK is projected to increase to a peak of 2038 in the year 2016, decreasing thereafter and eventually reaching a point where the majority of deaths are ‘background cases’. Around 91,000 deaths are predicted to occur by 2050, with around 61,000 of these occurring from 2007 onwards.
