Compensation for shoulder injury

A woman has received £16,000 compensation after she was injured in a work accident. As she closed a door, the handle and associated fittings came loose in her hand, causing her to fall backwards onto her left shoulder. As a result of the fall, she sustained a fracture to her upper arm and shoulder. This has healed in a slightly incorrect position which has resulted in restriction in her movement of the shoulder. As she has osteoporosis, there is no appropriate treatment and her symptoms are now permanent. The door had been reported as faulty on at least three occasions earlier in the week of the accident, and so liability was admitted by her employer at an early stage.
